This year LCCC decided to do Club Rush off campus at Lions Park. The event included supper (a great meal of pulled pork bbq sandwiches), door prizes, and watching a movie.

BCM setup a table and provided free pictures for students to update their Facebook and Myspace pages. Fourteen students took advantage of this offer. Several expressed an intrest in learning more about Jesus. Please pray for them as we begin to discuss the claims of Jesus.

Mini Golfing

August 25, 2008

This past Sunday evening, August 24, several of us went minigolfing.   Our orginal plan was to go ice skating, but several people expressed a desire to go bowling.  While gathering at the bowling alley we learned that we could not bowl until the league was done at 9.  This lead to a desicion to go minigolfing.

Eight of us went around the eighteen holes.  Each focused more on how many mousiqutoes we killed, than on our stroke count.  Inspite of all that , we enjoyed our time together.  Who really cares who wins.

Faith that Endures

August 24, 2008

Faith That Endures, by Donald Boyd-MacMillian, focuses on various facets of the persecuted church.  The focus of the book is to increase the reader’s understanding about the wide range of persucution in the word.  Mr. Boys-MacMillian paints a broad picture that persecution occurs whenever a Christian is oppossed for their beliefs in Christ.  This includes the areas of family shame, job promotions, jailings, unfair rulings, and more.

He also provides ways that other Christians can help.  The most important one is prayer.  Prayer for those persecuted to remain faithful to Christ is vital.  Mr. Boyd-Macmillian shares that those in heavily persecuted nations desire prayer from those who are not there.  The other area to help is to educate others about what is truly occuring.  Frequently in the US we focus only on the martyrs or lies shared through diplomatic channels.  There is a need to be aware that persecution is widespread throughout the world

This book has helped me to understand the vastness of persecution.  It has challenged me to pray reguarally for those who are heavily persecuted.

LCCC Starts Soon

August 23, 2008

That time of year has come.  The time for classes to start and learning to begin.  LCCC starts this coming Tuesday. Summer always seems to go by faster each year.  I hoped to get so much more done than I did.  Things like going camping, read a few more books, and recharging for a new year.  I do not regread anything that I did this summer, I simply wish that there was a little more time to accomplish everything and relax.

Anyways, to welcome back students, many things have been planned. Ranging from ice skating, bonfire, ice cream, movies, and more. To see a list visit bcmcheyenne.org.

Come join us as we welcome in a new year.

Starting a blog

August 9, 2008

This past week I attended a yearly college conference at Glorieta, NM.  While there I attended a seminar on using blogs as part of a ministry.  The leader, Jerry Nobles, shared his expereince with using blogs to do ministry.

The one thing that stuck out his church’s (Journey Church) blog on attacting people to visit.  I have known that many people will look at a website prior to visiting. But the power of blog entries to engage people excites me.

Over the next year, I hope to start blogging and see what happens.  Onwards I go.
